There is something uniquely special about looking at the world through a viewfinder. Freeman Patterson says that a camera looks both ways. I don’t think many people realise that photography says as much about you as it does about what you are photographing. That is one of the things that I love about the art of photography. To have the world as your palette and to be able to select what you put on your “canvas”.

My love for photography started on a sunny day in Namaqualand. I will never forget that day and the waterfall that I was photographing. I am eternally indebted to Colla Swart, Willem Oets and Freeman Patterson for opening my eyes to the beauty around me and enabling me to see. I have met many other photographers, including my closest friend, over the years and have shared many wonderful moments in some amazing places. I am so thankful for their passion and encouragement and have many wonderful memories of late night discussions and early morning shoots.

This blog is an extension of my photographic journey. A way to share what I have been up to and to hopefully inspire others to see with fresh eyes and vision.
